Are you passionate about shaping people processes and delivering exceptional HR leadership? Join SSP Canada, a global leader in travel dining, as a Regional People Leader and play a pivotal role in supporting our airport locations across Canada!

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as the Primary HR Contact: Act as the main point of contact for all HR-related inquiries across your assigned airports, providing expert guidance on employee relations, labor relations, and union activities.
  • Drive Union and Labor Relations: Manage and resolve complex labor issues, including grievances, mediations, and arbitrations, while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employment laws.
  • Collaborate with Senior Operations Management: Work closely with senior leadership to align people strategies with business goals, driving operational excellence and fostering a positive employee culture.
  • Strategic Business Partner: Lead the execution of HR initiatives across 6 airport locations, supporting recruitment, performance management, compensation, and employee development to ensure consistent success.
  • Analyze and Address Key HR Metrics: Monitor and analyze HR data, such as turnover, employee engagement, and workforce trends, to proactively identify areas of improvement and implement strategic solutions.
  • Ensure Legal and Policy Compliance: Keep up to date with employment and wage laws, advising on necessary adjustments to ensure compliance across all locations.
  • Deliver High-Impact HR Solutions: Lead HR programs that support talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness, ensuring that each location meets its business objectives.
  • Facilitate Training and Development: Partner with managers to deliver training programs that address local needs and support strategic company objectives.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Develop a communication cadence with internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives and corporate teams, to ensure alignment on HR initiatives and goals.
  • Ensure Excellence in HR Practices: Maintain high standards for employee records, performance appraisals, and HR reporting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company policies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in human resources, or related field required.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality, food service, or airport industries, with in-depth knowledge of Canadian labor and employment laws.
  • Extensive Labor and Union Relations Expertise: Proven experience in managing union-related activities, including grievances, mediations, and collective bargaining.
  • Strong Employee Relations Skills: Ability to handle complex employee issues and foster a positive, engaging workplace.
  • Business Partner for Multiple Locations: Experience as an HR Business Partner, or related title, supporting 8 or more locations, preferably in a fast-paced environment like hospitality or airport dining.
  • Certifications: CHRP designation (or Human Resources Degree) or HRPA member preferred, but not required.
  • Travel: Must be able to travel and train for the first 6 months of employment to build relationships and understand the daily operations of our units. After, you will travel up to 50% of the time based upon business needs, with the remaining time being worked from a home office.
  • Location: Candidate resides within Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton preferred.
