Senior People Manager, Hong Kong

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director, the incumbent will lead the People function and be responsible for the strategy and day to day running of People Function to align with SSPHK business strategies. The incumbent will be accountable for effective teams, administration systems, following of company policies and procedures whilst focusing on colleague development and engagement.

 

 

Main Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and development to the SLT with regards to best people practices, including but not limited to employee performance management, recruitment and selection and employee engagement.
  • Actively promote a culture which supports ethical practices, encourages individual integrity and represents brand values.
  • Lead by example, regularly working across units, understanding the challenges relating to people and performance.
  • Attend regular APAC and market level meetings, represent the market People function and provide relevant insight to Management.
  • Assist Management in creating an environment which maintains a positive industry reputation in the attracting, retaining and motivating colleagues.

 

Talent Acquisition

  • Responsible for the recruitment strategy and execution for frontline and support office colleagues
  • Advise and build a strategic resource plan that reflects the talent needs and lead programs to achieve business hiring needs.
  • Lead the teams to comply with all Company procedures regarding budget and expenses requirement to ensure manpower planning and staffing are adequately support operation needs whilst controlling salaries and wages costs according to the approval matrix.
  • Ensure job descriptions and job specifications are developed, updated, and communicated on a regular basis for all positions.
  • Ensure orientation program is conducted for new joiners.
  • Develop partnerships with hospitality colleges to develop a talent pool, assisting to facilitate the identification and sourcing of qualified candidates.
  • Collaborate with Asia Pacific People team to maintain the effectiveness of recruitment by establishing or exploring various sourcing channels and implementing Employer Branding initiatives.

 

Reward and Payroll

  • Establish policy on reward, compensation and benefits to ensure compliance. Lead market Reward strategy by regularly conducting market benchmarks referencing relevant industries.
  • Develop and maintain human resource management systems that meet management information need, ensuring all data is relevant and complies with statutory requirements.
  • Manage end to end payroll and administer Compensation and Benefits for stores & back-office support staff.

 

Training and Talent Management

  • Responsible for driving the performance and development processes, including talent review, ensuring the people and skill inventory are in the place to cope with the business needs.
  • Liaise with the SLT to facilitate the yearly SSP training plan, ensuring the alignment with business and cost objectives.
  • Review and validate training manual to ensure all manuals are up-to-date and meet standard.
  • Analyze and define training needs to summarize areas for development.
  • Plan and implement succession planning, identifying employees with high potential to build a series of strong talent pipelines of internal candidates.

 

Employee Engagement & Relations

  • Partner with the SLT to develop clear strategies in each department in order to drive employee engagement.
  • Establish employee engagement programmes to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Administer Global Colleague Survey and assist in addressing issues/concerns highlighted..
  • Serve as contact point for legal/government agencies in dealing with complicated employee issues relating to employment, disciplinary actions, and employee relations.
  • Advise Operations team (Operation manager / Area Manager / Management team) on human resources issues to ensure employee satisfaction.

 

HR Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure all HR policies, procedures, practices, and day-to-day operations are adhere to the company’s purpose and vision, and compliant with employment law and legislations in pursuit of best HR practices.
  • Responsible for reviewing HR and other related budget plan and cost control.
  • Complete, verify and analyses month-end reports to provide advices to Management on formulation and execution of HR strategies.
  • Report to Management any abnormal or significant incident, recommending an appropriate course of action.

 

New Unit Opening (when Required)

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding and development of new unit teams as and when required.

Requirements

  • University Degree in Human Resources Management or any relevant disciplines
  • At least 8 - 10 years’ experience in Human Resources related fields with a minimum of 5 years in similar capacity, preferably in F&B, hospitality, retail or service-oriented industries
  • Proficient in Hong Kong labour law
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing HR initiatives and measuring return on investment
  • Experience working as Business Partner to guide and advice business leaders on best practices
  • Experience in leading a team and developing team capabilities
  • Proficiency in English and Cantonese
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and data driven decision making
  • A genuine and honest, “can do” and hands-on approach
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
