Group Safety Assurance Manager

About the Role


The Global Safety Assurance Manager is essential in providing vigilant monitoring by the continuous, attentive, and proactive observation of minimum standards to detect any signs of deviation or risk. Through desktop and country assurance visits, creation of toolbox content and oversight of global training compliance; they will provide assurance on the application of Global Safety Minimum Standards and compliance expectations across diverse markets.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate quality of internal safety controls and compliance against the Global Safety Minimum Standards.
  • Conduct evaluations of safety protocols, compliance with regulations, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate findings & recommendations clearly to enable identification of actionable areas by priority.
  • Ensure audit findings are documented, reported, and actions are followed up with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency & learning, embedding verification & validation into practice.
  • Review second and third-party audits to gain further insight into safety-related performance.
  • Oversee and report on global training compliance, ensuring all countries meet standards and expectations.
  • Supplement toolbox content with templates, guides, best practices and guidance.
  • Gather insights comparatively from other businesses within the retail, hospitality, catering and/or travel sector to stay abreast of best practice implementation of any potential, new or developing risks.
 
Essential criteria
  • Advanced safety and auditing qualifications including but not limited to, L4 Food Safety, HACCP, NEBOSH Certificate
  • Confident decision making and critical thinking skills. Identifying and assessing risks across food production, food service and people safety.
  • Resilient integrity and objectivity skills. Conducting confident desktop and on-site audits in a planned and organised manner, conveying findings and driving corrective and preventative actions.
  • Adaptable communication and mentoring skills. Enabling effective engagement, tailoring messages to different audiences and providing guidance to support capability building.

Desirable 

  • Degree in Environmental Health or other relevant subject matter
  • Experience within a safety, quality assurance, or compliance role - ideally within food, travel, retail, or hospitality sector.
  • Experience with global safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, BRCGS, FSMA, or local legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to travel independently as and when the business requires, including on short-notice within approved internal processes.
