Brand Communications Executive

SSP is a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, with c.42,000 colleagues in over 600 locations across 37 countries. We operate sit-down and quick service restaurants, cafes, lounges and food-led convenience stores, principally in airports and train stations, with a portfolio of around 550 international, national and local brands.

 

These include our own brands Upper Crust, Millie's Cookies etc. as well as franchise brands such as M&S, Starbucks and Burger King.

About the role


We’re looking for a Communications Executive to support SSP UK &Ireland’s internal and external communications for both our own brands and our franchise partners. You’ll get to work on some of the biggest brands in the travel food space, including Upper Crust, Starbucks, The Breakfast Club, BrewDog and M&S Simply Food, to enhance our reputation and build awareness among B2B and consumer media. As a new position, you’ll be able to grow with the job.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the delivery of the UK, Ireland and Netherlands communications strategy with a focus on our brands, across internal and external activity, as well as exposure to social media
  • Draft press releases, liaising with internal and external stakeholders where needed and pitch these into media
  • Draft internal communications focused on our brands to drive engagement and excitement across the business
  • Support the social media team with posts where required focused on brand activity
  • Draft media Q&As and statements
  • Help to coordinate press activity around the opening of new outlets
  • Work with the wider comms team to maintain a calendar of activity
  • Maintain a database of key media contacts
  • Compile monthly coverage reports
  • Support on crisis and issues management

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • At least one year’s experience in communications or a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to multi-task amid and work to tight deadlines
  • Confidence to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders and pitching to media
